Achievements

  • Three UNESCO Chairs for Halophyte Utilization, Community Education for Mountain Conservation and Watersheds Management and Light for Health were established under UNITWIN Network Programme for renewal
  • Assessment Report for Renewal of Chair in Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilization, Karachi forwarded to UNESCO.
  • ISESCO Science Chair for Women Established in Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Implemented ISESCO’s Project for Empowerment of Women by Nation Resource Development Organization- (NRDO)

 

A project of fish farming launched in rural                       

 areas of Swat, Gujar Khan, Sahiwal and

Khairpur. Cost of project was PKR 4 million. 60 women benefiting in three provinces, Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtonkhawa.

 

 

 

 

  • Coordination meetings with UNESCO office Islamabad to review progress of on-going projects in Science Sector.
  • Research proposals for grant of US $10,000 (10 Nos) of Ph.D scholars sent to ISESCO on the basis of their presentation given in PNCU. ISESCO approved one grant
  • Participation in the UNESCO prizes / awards conveyed to UNESCO.

v  Computerization of Library catalogue completed.

v  Draft Service Rules submitted to Establishment Division.

v  Proposal for recruitment submitted to the Ministry.

v  Facilitated participation of 10 experts in activities of UNESCO/ISESCO in 2014-2015

v  Organized three-day event to showcase different regional cultures on the eve of world cultural diversity day observed on 21st May 2015.

v  Participated first qualitative conference of Secretary Generals of National Commissions held in Baghdad, 28-29 March, 2015.

v  The focus of the Conference was:

v  Exploiting education, science and culture to serve as means of mutual cooperation, tolerance and respect for diversity.

v  Enhancing tolerance, understanding of multiculturalism among religions and communities for respecting human dignity and cultural diversity.

v  Inclusion of Core Human values i.e. cooperation, tolerance and peace in national curricula.

v  Dialogue among cultures and civilizations to reduce tensions, threats and all manifestations of violence.

v  Develop a common framework and shared set of principles and values for peaceful coexistence.

Activities Planned:

v  Preparation of agenda items with the help of Ministries/departments related to ISESCO’s fields of competence for Executive Council and General Conference in July 2015

v  Celebration of International Literacy Day (ILD) September 2015

v  Celebration of World Teachers  Day October 2015

v  Preparation of agenda items related to UNESCO’s fields of competence for Executive Board and General Conference in November 2015

v  Training Workshop on Improvement of Financial Reporting, Budgeting and Audit

PNCU plans to organize two days training workshop for officers and officials consultation with PIFRA to promote transparency, accountability, professionalism in public finance management.
