General Conference

UNESCO General Conference:

A high level delegation headed by Federal Minister with four Members from the users Ministries i.e. Education, Science and Culture participated in two UNESCO General Conferences held on October 2009 and 2011 in UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, France, it is held after every two years.

Achievement during 35th Session of UNESCO General Conference 2009

Pakistan elected as:

·         Member of the Council of International Bureau of Education (IBE), for four years from 2009-2013.

·         Member of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) for four years from 2009-2013.

 

Achievements in 36th Session of UNESCO General Conference-2011

  1. One of the six Vice Presidents of 36th Session of the General Conference, from Asia Pacific Region
  2. One of the 58 Members of UNESCO Executive Board for anther four year's term (2011-2015)
  3. One of the 36 Members of Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrological Program (IHP)for another two years.
  4. One of the 28 Members of the International Bureau of Education (IBE) for two years.
  5. One of the Members of Intergovernmental Bioethics Committee(IGBC)for two years.
  6. Member of Adhoc Working Group of the Executive board for two years.
  7. Member of the NGO committee for two years.
  8. One of the three members sub committee of Admn Commission for UNESCO staff Pension & rules, along with Italy and Algeria for two years.
  9. Since active member of Regional Groups like ASPAC, G77, NAM, Commonwealth and OIC

    Pakistan’s honor in the 37th Session of  UNESCO General Conference

  10. Pakistan was elected by the General Conference as:
    • One of the six Vice Presidents of the 37th Session of the General Conference for the Asia Pacific Region (Honourable MoS MET&SHE holds that office).
    • Member of the Credential and Recommendations  (CR) Committee.
    • Member of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC)
    • Member of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrology Programme (IHP).
    • Ad-hoc Committee of UNESCO Executive Board.
    • Cultural Heritage Committee on 1970 Convention.
    • Pakistan has also been elected as Vice Chairman of the Childhood Education biennial ISESCO Conference, in its last session on 11-13 November 2013 in Azerbaijan
